Troop 380 Shenandoah Springs Campout 2026
By Joshua Rogger 3/16/2026
On March 13, 2026, Troop 380 Scouts [including the author] went on a campout to Shenandoah Springs Camp. We arrived at night and proceeded to set up tents. The campout was very fun, and the Scouts in question were surrounded by beautiful nature.
On Saturday morning, there was a long, scenic hike, and many activities including an ax-yard, boating, and basketball. Included in the occurrences were opportunities to complete requirements, service hours, and the Totin’ Chip award.
Another rare occurrence on the campout was the AOL [Arrow Of Light] Ceremony, in which new Scouts were honored for joining. During the ceremony, Scouts carried flaming torches, in a canoe driven by adult leaders, across a lake, and used the to light a fire, symbolically joining their fire with the fire of the rest of the troop.
